Hickory Flat Schools

The traditional heart of the Hickory Flat community is the Hickory Flat 'triangle' bordered by Highway 140, Hickory Road and East Cherokee Drive. Until the late 1990s this area included a gas station, restaurant, veterinarian, library and little else. This area now supports well over 50 businesses including two shopping centers anchored by a Kroger and a Publix.

Immediately bordering the 'triangle' are Hickory Flat Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle and Sequoyah High, with Mountain Road Elementary serving the southern portion of the Hickory Flat community and feeding into the middle and high schools.  The growth in population necessitated splitting these districts, so Avery Elementary, Creekland Middle and Creekview High serve the northeastern portion of Hickory Flat and are also listed here.

Hickory Flat Dining

While the Hickory Flat community includes national chains like McDonalds, Wendy's, Subway and Burger King (BK was the first in Hickory Flat), here are a few unique spots to visit.

	Sidelines - Excellent food and full-service bar.  We're regular patrons. (Near Publix)
	Bedoes - Another good full-service restaurant and bar. Can be a little chilly and a little loud, but good food. (Behind Taco Bell)
	Shane's Rib Shack - Known for ribs, Ed and the crew also serve the very best hamburgers and fries in Hickory Flat. (Near Tractor Supply)
	Mizu - Asian food including Hibachi grill. Great food, great service and reasonable prices. (Kroger shopping center)
	Johnny's Pizza - A popular neighborhood place with great pizza, sandwiches, Stromboli and cold beer served in frosty mugs.  We're regulars. (Next to McDonalds)
	Waffle House - Friendly service and the only 24-hour food in Hickory Flat. Interesting after midnight... (Next to CVS)
	The Frosty Frog - Great treats and delicious ice-cream in a comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere. (Publix shopping center)
	Dos Margaritas - Fast and friendly lunch, and very popular in the evenings. (Kroger shopping center)

Please support your local merchants. These deserve a special mention.

	Kroger - Publix is a great store and the bakery is unbeatable, but I need something a little bigger.  The Hickory Flat Kroger is the best grocery store I've ever visited.  Start your visit with a Starbucks coffee.  The sushi cooler is stocked with fresh and delicious sushi made on site.  Overall, the aisles are wide and the choices are vast.  I visit enough to frequently get .10 to $1 off per gallon of gas at the fuel center.  Wide selection, great staff, fast checkout.
	Three Sisters - Unique items which probably appeal more to females or men shopping for females.  Note:  If you're a man waiting as a lady shops at Three Sisters, consider that you can stroll to the Sidelines Bar to wait. (Publix shopping center)
	Goodwill - Seriously. The best Goodwill store with the highest quality merchandise you'll ever find. Worth a visit. (Near Tractor Supply)
	Tractor Supply - Why drive miles to Home Depot or a hardware store? TS is friendly and convenient.  Also a great place to refill the propane tanks for your grill.  (Behind Goodwill)
	Great Clips - Friendly, fast, affordable and convenient haircuts. (Kroger shopping center)
	AutoZone - After getting gas at Kroger I popped in to Autozone for wipers.  As I was paying one employee, another employee went out and put them on (without me asking) and was done as I walked out the door.  Outstanding service.  (Near Kroger)
	Advance Auto Parts - Friendly and helpful employees. (Near Burger King)
	Hickory Flat Animal Hospital - These people are simply awesome.  They're also very compassionate when difficult choices must be made.  (Across from Goodwill)
